How do IT journalists get their news?

The reality of IT journalism is that the vast majority of writers do their research from their office. The telephone line and Internet connection are the tools they use. Until now no one has taken a scientific approach to assessing where they go when the pick up the phone or log on. What is the source for the news we read? How do journalists across Europe
differ in the way they identify a story? Is there a subtle art to getting their attention?

The answers to these questions lie in a Europe-wide survey conducted by Hotwire. A questionnaire was sent to journalists representing national business titles, trade press and news services covering a range of IT sectors. Journalists responded in detail,
revealing the modus operandi of both national and specialist IT press in the UK, France and Germany.
