France risks missing out on RFID bonanza unless government acts on radio frequencies - Logistics expert from Printronix calls for government action  RFID (radio frequency identification) - the technology used to electronically label goods for remote tracking - is set to transform the logistic sector. According to analysts, the Gartner Group, the RFID market could be worth over $3 billion by 2010, with organisations looking to cut storage and delivery costs by completely removing the need to physically scan items. But French companies are still missing out on the dramatic benefits of this technology since the radio frequency spectrum on which RFID messages are transmitted has still yet to be freed up by the French authorities. |
