3 November 2008 – Hotwire recruits Andy West to drive new corporate practice
Hotwire, PR Week’s international agency of the year, today announced a key strategic hire with the appointment of Andy West as managing director of a new international corporate practice, and a board director of the agency as a whole. Hotwire’s corporate practice will provide major technology brands with the highest level in strategic consultancy and cutting edge digital communications, backed up by results-focused execution.

Hotwire’s decision to launch the new practice follows a growing feeling that  major technology brands are looking at best of breed agency networks over one-size-fits-all global agencies to get much better value from their PR investment as budgets are tightened. Andy, who joined Hotwire this week, will report to Hotwire founder and group managing director Kristin Syltevik and will work with Hotwire’s office across Europe to win and service large scale international accounts.

Andy is one of Europe’s most renowned technology PR consultants, with over 20 years in the industry, 14 with Text 100 culminating in heading up Text’s EMEA operations spanning 175 staff and £10m in revenues. During his time at Text 100, Andy was credited with helping land major accounts including IBM, ARM, Novell, Philips and Avaya. Since leaving Text 100 in 2006, Andy has spent the past two years at the heart of the explosion in social media helping to found and launch Friction.TV.

“We are thrilled to have Andy onboard,” said Hotwire founder and group managing director Kristin Syltevik. “Andy has a track record of operating at the highest level and we share a vision and a passion for delivering next generation PR to major technology brands. We are confident in our growth plans and this appointment and the launch of our new corporate practice are about seizing the market opportunity.”

“Ask anyone in the know and they will tell you that Hotwire is right up there with the hottest PR agencies in the world at the moment,” said Andy West. “I have been incredibly impressed with the quality of the team and the unique approaches the agency has to things like digital. Like Text in its early days, I see a real opportunity for Hotwire to build upon the momentum it has already established.”
