European PR agency breaks industry starting salary ceiling offering graduates £20,000 Award-winning public relations agency seeking EIGHT ‘hot on the press’ graduates
London, 23 February 2005 – Hotwire, the European technology public relations (PR) consultancy, is announcing its 2005 UK Graduate Programme. The annual search for eight extremely bright and enthusiastic graduates will begin at the graduate open day on Saturday 12 March 2005. Hotwire has dramatically increased its intended graduate intake for the year and is setting industry standards by delivering what they believe to be the best starting salary of £20,000, reflecting its commitment to graduates.
The UK PR sector is the most highly developed in Europe with an annual income for PR consultancies at an estimated £350 million and turnover at £1.2 billion. Although industry reports suggest starting salaries for graduates have been increasing over the years, there are still some PR agencies offering graduates as little as £12,000.
The agency is looking for candidates with a strong desire to excel in PR, who are exceptional communicators. In return, they promise a comprehensive, 18-month graduate development programme that combines a theoretical grounding of modern PR with practical hands-on PR experience.
Graduate Melissa Waterson joined the Hotwire team from The University of Leeds in August 2004. She comments: “I joined Hotwire after being drawn to its vibrant and fast paced environment. Already I have been actively involved in a Europe wide media tour on behalf of a high profile client and have seen my work published in top broadsheet newspapers. She continues, “Hotwire is one of Europe’s hottest technology PR consultancies with an established reputation and is providing me with an excellent foundation for my PR career.”
Anthony Wilson, Hotwire co-founder and managing partner, operations said: “We have remained dedicated to our UK Graduate Programme by rewarding impressive candidates with an excellent starting salary. We believe we are the first PR agency to offer starters in excess of the £17,000 mark. Furthermore, with the end of the technology recession, technology PR is the fastest growing sector in the industry so this is an exciting time for anyone to become involved with a groundbreaking agency such as ours!”
Over the past four years, Hotwire has grown very rapidly, with offices in London, Frankfurt and Paris. Specialising in corporate, trade and consumer PR programmes for companies in the technology industry, the agency works with some of the most exciting and innovative technology brands in Europe including Duracell and Pantone.
The Hotwire graduate open day is taking place on Saturday 12 March 2005 at the London offices in Clerkenwell. To apply for the open day and the graduate programme please e-mail
