London, 9 May 2005 – Hotwire, the European technology public relations consultancy, today announced its appointment by Logic3, one of the world’s largest video game accessory brands. Hotwire has been tasked with launching Logic3’s comprehensive range of peripheral accessories for the PSP in four major European markets – the UK, France, Spain and Germany and will also co-ordinate the campaign in North America. Following success in Asia, the European and American launches of the Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) are eagerly anticipated for 1 September 2005. The Logic3 peripherals will be available to buy from August 2005.
Hotwire has enjoyed a successful relationship with Logic3 over recent years, co-ordinating the launches for both the PlayStation dance mats and the iStation iPod speakers. The European PR programme for the PSP accessories centres on maintaining the strength of the Logic3 brand name. The campaign will focus on news flow, product reviews, competitions and a campaign centred on the Christmas shopping period. Targeting Christmas shoppers will be key as 50 per cent of annual video game sales are usually recorded in the fourth quarter. Sony is also keen to maintain their market standing which currently stands at over 50 per cent of the next generation market share.
Logic3’s PSP peripherals range from portable speakers with enhanced sound quality, to carry cases, compact travel kits, cables and connectors, all designed to maximise the PSP entertainment experience. The PR campaign is the primary component of Logic3’s marketing launch strategy.
Michael Kirkham, Logic3 director, commented: “The PSP is capable of much more than just mobile gaming. Users can play MP3s and watch DVDs as well which gives our accessories a very diverse addressable market. We chose Hotwire for its proven ability to execute PR programmes targeting multiple consumer audiences with different messages, without losing the strength of the unified brand.”
Sian Gaskell, senior partner and head of Hotwire’s consumer technology practice, will head the Logic3 account. Sian will report to Logic3 director, Michael Kirkham.
Sian Gaskell commented: “We were keen to build on the success we have achieved for Logic3 in the past with the PlayStation Dance Mats and the i-Station, to create a tailored PR programme which we believe will build Logic3’s reputation for cutting edge, fashionable peripherals among its target audience.” About Logic3 Logic3 is a highly successful Video Game Accessory brand which operates under the umbrella organisation, Spectravideo plc. The company has in-depth experience in the design, development, manufacturing and supply of Video Game and PC Accessories. In addition to its Distribution skills, SpectraVideo plc has also developed specialised expertise in design, engineering, electronics, plastics and product assembly.
SpectraVideo's year on year growth, culminating in a record breaking year in 1998 was the result of an aggressive growth strategy started some 5 years previous. SpectraVideo plc is committed to the Video and PC gaming industry, and will continue to provide high quality products, under the Logic 3 brand name, at competitive prices.
