Using Wikipedia as an example, Drew Benvie writes that the ethics around who can say what about a brand on-line is a grey area. He suggests a more applied approach is needed for a brand and its marketing, and for PR and communications teams, both in-house and in agencies, so that they will find it easier to carry out their own cosmetic web surgery.

Following the enormous success of Information Builders 'On the Ball' World Cup campaign in 2006, new European communications title 'Communication Director' heard about the buzz this campaign created and chose to profile the results in its inaugural issue.
Information Builders campaign is cited as an "agenda setter" and receives expert opinion from Paul Holmes, the man behind 'The Holmes Report.' Paul explains:
“This wasn’t just simply a big idea that would generate publicity for publicity’s sake. It tied directly into the product: providing viewers with a way to access and analyse the data and showcasing the capabilities of Information Builders’ product, generating coverage in mainstream media otherwise unlikely to devote much space to a new software product or likely limit their coverage to the business or technology sections.”
Paul Holmes, President and CEO, The Holmes Group
“As a journalist I can only wish all PR projects were of this quality and usefulness.”
