Hotwire and Financial Insights seminar - 29 March 2007

Already 2007 is looking like it will be another landmark year in the financial services industry with competition intensifying, more M&A activity on the agenda and compliance activity hotting up. Will the first SEPA deadline drift? What are the implications of the new MiFID deadline? Will the banks be ready for Faster Payments in only ten months? This seminar by Financial Insights and Hotwire will lift the lid on the issues that lie beneath all these subjects and discuss the implications for the financial technology vendor community. It will also draw on the results of last year's Fintech 100 rankings to identify who the likely winners and losers will be this year.

Presented by Peter Farley, European MD, and Rachel Hunt, Manager, European Banking Research from Financial Insights, the seminar will provide:
  • . an overview of the key issues driving investment in this sector
. lessons for the vendor community from this year's Fintech 100 findings
. an examination of those firms best placed for the year ahead
Last year's Fintech 100 ranking showed that European financial technology firms generally underperformed in comparison to their global competitors, with only Reuters remaining in the Top 10 list. However, the European market remains buoyant with banks showing strong performance indicators and high levels of IT spend, particularly in the areas of payments, wealth management and security. 2007 should provide significant opportunities for all financial technology companies operating in Europe.

Financial Insights is the specialist research and consulting subsidiary of IDC, providing analysis and knowledge about the application of technology and communications within financial services organisations. Hotwire is Europe's fastest growing technology PR consultancy with a dedicated banking & finance practice; its clients include ACI Worldwide, Thales, EDB and Chordiant.

Starting at 6pm, this seminar will be held at Hotwire's London office at 33-41 Dallington Street, EC1V 0BB and will be chaired by the head of Hotwire's banking and finance practice, Scott McLean. The two presentations will be followed by a Q&A session, and the whole seminar should last about an hour, after which you are warmly invited to stay for drinks and canapés.
